Cupcakes are without a doubt one of my favorite desserts! They are the perfect size and, if paired with the right icing, they can fulfill even the sweetest cravings :) Today we are featuring how to make a super fluffy and delicious, homemade buttercream. Also, check out a super easy way of making your summer cupcakes look this awesome! Only two super simple steps!

Buttercream Ingredients
(24 cupcakes)
  • 3 sticks of unsalted butter
  • 6 egg whites
  • 1/4 of a teaspoon of cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tablespoon of clear vanilla extract
  • 1 1/8 cups of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of water

  1. Mix water and sugar in a small pot, cook on low, do not stir. When your mixture comes to a boil and has a clear color, turn it off.
  2. Whip the egg whites with the cream of tartar on a mixer. (Medium speed)
  3. Without stopping the mixer and very carefully and slowly, pour the (now melted) sugar into the whipped egg whites. Keep whipping until the mix bowl is no longer hot.
  4. Cut the butter into 1 inch thick slices and begin to drop them into the mix (while its still being whipped). When all the butter is in the mix, pour in the vanilla extract. Keep the mixer whipping the whole time. Done! simple right? Now taste the deliciousness!
To decorate:
Place your buttercream into a decorating bag. Make sure that your cupcakes are not hot before you start decorating or the icing will melt. The initial decoration is up to you. I chose to go with this super simple bubly design. If you would like to do this one, simply Hold Open your decorating bag approximately 1/4" above cupcake top at a 90° angle to cupcake surface. Pipe a ball of icing and stop the pressure. Then do the same on top but make this one a smaller ball. You might need to try this a couple times before you get it but once you do, you will see how incredibly simple this technique is.
With a sharp knife, cut a lemon in thin half slices as shown below.
Then, simply arrange your lemon slices on your cupcakes to your angle of preference. Done again! How simple and how cute is this? Enjoy <3

Ahhhhh Friday! Hello everyone! Hope you all had a lovely week. We just wanted to share with you all our latest Fashion advice for Brides-to-be. Enjoy! :)

Bridal Shower: This day is probably your first wedding festivity where it all seems to revolve around you. Sure, the attention feels great but what should you wear? It is super important to be comfortable on this day. You will have tons of people talking to you and you want to make sure you feel confident and beautiful. I say, go with something simple and sweet. Look for a comfy dress that makes you feel "you" while feeling pretty and girly at the same time. Choose some comfy shoes as well, greeting people, opening gifts and being the center of attention is not an easy task! Give yourself a little break by choosing an outfit that is both flattering and comfortable <3

Bachelorette Party: It's your last night out as a single girl! I say, go all out! There is no such thing as "too much sparkle" on this day. It's a day to have all eyes on you, shine and most of all have fun! I love a sparkly tulle dress as shown above, paired with accessories in your favorite color for a fun pop.

Rehearsal Dinner: Its probably the evening before your big day and things hopefully are going the way you want them to but chances are that during this day, you will have to realize that the big day is near and cope with the imperfections. I say, keep it classic. You can never go wrong with an ivory laced up dress. Keep it at a decent length and make sure to wear beautiful accessories like the custom made hairpiece shown above. This day is definitely all eyes on you and I would say the number one priority is to go with a classic, don't try to pull off anything crazy because at the stress level you will probably be at, you are gonna want to feel that "just right" feeling as much as possible.

My best advice: enjoy this time of your life! Don't let the moments go by too quickly and cherish every memory. I loooooooooove weddings! :)

Happy Thursday everyone! Today, we would like to take a moment and talk about what we are thankful for.

Personally, (Maria <3) I am sooooooo thankful for all the miracles around me. People have always thought of miracles as some kind of super power, like a person that can fly or bringing someone back from the dead. Even though I do believe in the supernatural I think we grew up in a generation that is not easily awed. We expect special effects in real life just like we see them in movies in order for us to be impressed and we forget to notice the "small" (actually bigger and better) miracles all around us.

I was inspired by a quote that my husband said yesterday, he said: "Impossibility is the perfect setting for a miracle" and that to me is very true. An impossible situation doesn't only mean that someone has to be dead. An impossible situation can be a broken heart, it can be a deep void in your heart that you have tried to fill with so many things and the void still remains. I am talking about spiritual impossibilities. Situations where as humans, there is nothing left for us to do, that is when the miracle happens.

I have seen so many times in my life when I am faced with an impossible situation and in the middle of my most desperate hour, someone gives me the gift of a precious, unexpected miracle: a word of hope, strength and perseverance. That to me is a miracle. I believe there is nothing in this world can truly heal a broken heart, only a God-sent Miracle.

- Maria <3

PS: Please keep in mind that with this blog post, my only intention is to share a little bit of what I have learned and what I believe to be true, with whoever is willing to listen. I do not mean to offend or cause trouble in any way. :)

Happy Wednesday everybody! Today I will show you how o make this adorable and super simple lil' birdie in a jar :) I've decided to make these as party favors for my adorable and beloved nephew's first birthday party! Happy Birthday Jesse Stephen! <3 I will post pictures of the party that will happen this Sunday, July 29th but for now, enjoy this simple yet super adorable tutorial on how to make your very own lil' birdie in a jar!
You will need:
  • Baby food jars
  • Yellow cold porcelain (learn
    how to make it here)
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Clear elastic beading cord
  • Beading Pins
  • Hot Glue
  • Beading pliers

Start by making a small ball out of your cold porcelain.
Thin out the middle area using your fingertips to roll the clay. One of the sides of the clay should be somewhat bigger than the other one.
Fold your clay over so it looks like the picture shown above.
On the smaller side of your clay start forming a beak by pressing your fingertips against the clay and bringing it to a point until it looks like the picture shown above.
With the remainder of your clay form a tail and a body on your bird.
Insert your beading pin from the bottom of the bird so the end of the beading pin faces down. Set to dry in an indoor, cool place. This step may take one to two days. Do not manipulate your bird until it's fullY dry.
While you wait for your bird to dry, paint the lids or your baby food jars with your color of choice.
Use alternate colors to add polka dots to your lids. You can try different patterns or styles. Get Creative!
After your birdie is fully dry, Use acrylic paint to add details such as color to its beak and eyes.
Using small beading pliers fold over your beading pin and make a small hoop as shown above. Using the clear elastic beading cord, tie a triple knot on the top of the beading pin and using hot glue, attach the other end of the clear elastic beading cord to the bottom of your jar lid. The length of your cord should depend on the size of your jar. When the hot glue dries out you are ready to close your jar and enjoy watching your little birdie fly!
If you want to add a little extra something, paint grass on the bottom of your jar :)
Enjoy your super cute birdie in a jar! These also make an awesome office gift! Check out the video below and see how fun they are to watch!

Hey Guys! Hope you are having a great beginning of the week. As usual, today is the day for fresh, from scratch, super delicious recipes! Here is another amazing & original recipe from our PR & AD specialist, Angie. Enjoy :)

Have these yummies ready in less than 15 minutes. You will not only have done dinner the right way, but in a record-breaking time-frame.

Ingredients:
Four Servings
  • 4 tilapia filets
  • 2 loaves naan bread
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves, washed
  • chopped cilantro
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • seasoning of choice - I used Adobo Goya (Can be found at your local supermarket in the Hispanic food isle or here)

  1. Season tilapia filets to taste. Drizzle a pan with olive oil and cook them on low-medium heat on one side for four minutes.
  2. In the meanwhile, place the naan loaves in the oven at a low broil for approximately 6 minutes.
  3. Back to the tilapias now: Turn them over using a spatula and a spoon to make sure the filets do not break up in the process. Doing so is important because the complete filet will look much better in the final dish presentation.
  4. Now cover up the filets and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  5. Top your tilapias with mozzarella cheese until they are fully covered and let them stand until the cheese is melted.
  6. Bring naan loaves out of the oven and cut in half. Place in bottom of plate, then layer tomatoes, lettuce and tilapia on top. Garnish with chopped cilantro for a zesty touch, and add salt if needed.
  7. Enjoy your nutritious and satisfying meal!

*If you love to cook and would like one of your recipes to be featured on Tasty Tuesday, comment below and let us know. We will be sure to contact you!*

Have a great rest of the week!

Hey Guys! Today is our first official Thankful Thursday! Starting today everyone at Mashia Crafts will take a moment every Thursday and send out an inspirational thought your way. Today's thankful thought is about perseverance. Always persevere, no matter what comes your way. One of the greatest and most valuable lessons that my dad ever taught me was that if you always persevere you will reach your goals. Today we are thankful for obstacles because they are there to make you grow. Every time you overcome one you get better, faster, stronger :) Don't let obstacles determine your finish line, overcome them and keep running the race!

<3 Maria
